CSR: A Special Christmas for Families in Need
Christmas is a wonderful time of the year. A time we have been taught, since childhood, when it’s better to give than to receive. It was, after all, during Christmas that a Saviour was born unto the world bringing unconditional love.
During Christmas, families get together to share and celebrate. But Christmas day would be just another day without shelter, without warmth, clothing or food for those struggling to make ends meet. That’s why during Christmas and, indeed throughout the year, we should be mindful of our surrounding communities and do as much we can to put a smile on the faces of those who are suffering.
There many ways to perform acts of Goodwill during the festive season to put back a smile onto the faces of those found wanting. These range from inviting the less fortunate to dinner, to volunteering in support of charitable causes, to providing Christmas presents to children or to giving food to less fortunate families.
Every year, the Ruisseau Creole offers a traditional lunch for elderly people of Black River, Mauritius. In December 2019, Investors Europe founder and CEO, Bertrand Boulle opted to provide a different kind of present for and on behalf of Investors Europe.
The Company partnered with the Ruisseau Creole Complex, where our executive offices are based, to provide “festive” baskets to the individual value of Rs 500 to 60 elderly families in Riviere Noire, Black River. This was the Company’s little act of goodwill, and it put a smile on the faces of the many who felt really ‘spoilt’ by it.
At Investors Europe, we understand the need to support worthy causes that relieve suffering and contribute to making the world a better place for all. Through the charitable institution, Investors Trust, we look forward to long term partnering with Ruisseau Creole and other organizations who work to improve our society, in Mauritius and abroad. So far, we have financially subsidised several humanitarian and conservation projects and enabled selected charitable organisations and NGOs to achieve their goals on the ground, with the people of the surrounding community.
For example, in environment and climate change, we have supported efforts to educate young people on the effects of plastic waste and the importance of keeping the environment clean by partnering with ‘Zet Dan DoDo” (“Throw in the DoDo”), a simple yet effective initiative from the ubiquitous and well known Corinna Durocher. ‘Zet Dan DoDo’ teaches the young children of Mauritius about the importance of keeping the environment clean by collecting plastics and dealing with pollution within their grasp.
