In China, 3 are the Stock Exchanges available: the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the Shenzhen Stock Exchange and the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

As an investor, the two major securities markets in China that you should look at are the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

Relevant indexes are:

• SHANGHAI COMPOSITE: the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A- and B-shares listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

• HANG SENG: the HIS is a market-value weighted index of the stock prices of the 33 largest companies on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange market (these companies represent about 70% of capitalization of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange). It is used as the main indicator of the overall market performance in Hong Kong.
