TORONTO STOCK EXCHANGE(theTSX) is Canada's largest stock exchange, North America's second largest stock exchange, and the sixth largest in the world. The TSX incorporates a broad range of businesses from Canada, the United States, and other countries are listed on the exchange.

The main index is the S&P TSX Composite (formerly called the TSE 300 Composite index).

It measures the performance of the broad Canadian equity market.

The index covers the top 300 shares (almost 90 per cent of the capitalization of Canadian-based companies listed on the TSX) in terms of float market capitalization of those eligible for inclusion in the index. All classes of common shares issued and outstanding are considered.
